My Story about Why I Decided to Become a Speech-Language Pathologist

Hello! Hola!你好! Oi!

My name is Kaiting Tu Bronson and over the past 10 plus years, I have worked as a SLP in the telehealth, school, outpatient clinic, and home health settings across the world (USA (Texas, New York), Bolivia, Ghana, and Brazil.

Being a neurodivergent individual and a child of immigrants growing up between 3 countries, I grew up observing the social isolation that results from communication struggles. From that experience, I became passionate about helping people that feel different to embrace their uniqueness and celebrate their inner beauty.

In addition to “traditional” speech and language therapy training, I have dedicated additional time throughout my career studying counseling skills and am committed to fostering a warm and healing space for people to find purpose and joy in self expression.

When I’m not helping people learn to express themselves, I like to play piano, write Japanese calligraphy, and hula hoop.

My Education and Credentials:

  • Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, Columbia University

  • Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a minor in Theatre, University of San Francisco

  • American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) certified

  • Texas Speech and Hearing Association (TSHA) certified
